Project Spiral is coming soon!
What is Project Spiral?
Well, Project Spiral is an attempt to get to know our new city and country better. It’s a long term project to firstly visit and document every Sydney suburb (all 680 odd of them), and then to move on to the rest of New South Wales, and Australia region by region. We’ll be taking photos along the way and publishing them here on this website.
Where does the name Project Spiral come from?
It’s a working name and isn’t necessarily finalised yet. Indeed, if you have a better suggestion then please let me know! The name comes from our plan to start our journey from our home suburb, and then spiral out in a clockwise direction.
What kind of photos will you be taking?
Anything really, but with an emphasis on natural beauty. Mostly this will be items of nature, but it could be anything that we find beautiful.
How regular will the updates be?
Hopefully every two weeks there will be a new update. This will of course depend largely on what else is happening on a particular weekend.
Do you have a plan for where you will go?
To a degree. There is a master plan, but it’s not carved in stone. If we feel like swapping a week for another we may do so.
Was there any inspiration to do this project?
Yes and no. Originally the only inspiration was to see and get to know the city in which we live. However, we recently found out about website (and now book and Museum of Sydney exhibit) 52 Suburbs, and although we conceived our ideas before we even knew about 52 Suburbs, it inspired us to do our project in more detail.
How long will this project take?
Because we’ll be seeing Sydney in such detail, and Australia is a really big place, this project is calculated to come to an end during 2019 (yeah, I know!). By that time we will still not even have seen all of the country, and because no doubt we will take time to see other countries during that time, we’re pretty much considering it to be a permanently ongoing project.
When does it start?
We kick off in our home suburb of Killara, and on to Gordon & Lindfield, on July 9, 2011.
See you soon!
Craig

Very interesting. I have family living in Sydney, would be interesting to see their suburb through your camera lens
Cool. What suburb do they live in?
Bella Vista (Hills district) and a neighbouring suburb (can’t remember name!). Quiet far from Sydney city.
Right. According to the schedule we’ll visit Bella Vista on 15.02.2014 (that’s pretty scary actually!)
If I happen to be in Sydney on that particular day, I will invite you to their home in Bella Vista:) Unfortunately I have not planned that far out!
Don’t hold me to it though! I’m pretty sure things may have changed by then!
